Dangerous parasites are always present in the environment. We recommend regular fecal checks and deworming as the best way to prevent parasitic disease and the transmission of intestinal parasites to your pet and your family members.

Fleas and ticks are a major problem in Florida due to our mild winters and warm moist spring and summers. We provide many flea and tick control products. We can help you develop a flea/tick protocol for your pet and your environment. Fleas and ticks are more than a nuisance, they can carry various diseases and transmit parasites. These problems can be avoided by using parasite prevention products that a re available at our hospital. When used properly and according to our directions, these products are very safe and effective.

Heartworm disease is a serious, life threatening disease affecting cats and dogs. Mosquitoes spread the disease by injecting the parasite into your pet at the time of the bite. Clinical symptoms of heart worm disease develop very slowly Lack of energy and exercise intolerance are early symptoms, as are coughing and difficulty breathing. Because heart worm disease is increasing in frequency and is a serious and deadly disease, we recommend that your dog be tested annually and maintained on monthly heart worm prevention. We have a variety of heart worm preventative available to fit your pet’s needs.



Lake Vet 106The veterinarians at Lake Veterinary Clinic will recommend a vaccination protocol that will fit your pet’s needs. Our canine core vaccines are Rabies and Distemper / Adenovirus / Parvovirus / Leptospirosis / Coronavirus.  Bordetella(kennel cough) and Lymes Disease vaccinations are available. Bordetella vaccines are often required by boarding facilities and groomers. Our core feline vaccines are Rabies and Distemper/Rhinotracheitis/Calici/Chlamydia. Feline Leukemia is recommended for kittens and outdoor cats. We recommend feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus testing for kittens and all stray/new cats added to your household. Vaccinations are not only safe and effective, they are important and fundamental aspect of your pet’s preventive health care plan. Vaccinations have made once fatal diseases easily preventable. Remember Rabies vaccines are required by the county and protect you pet and your family from a deadly disease.
