About Us

Lake Vet 101

Central Florida based Lake Veterinary Clinic has been a prominent fixture in Lake County for decades. It was founded in 1956 by Dr. Brannon Murphy. From 1959-1996, it was owned and operated by Dr. John Hartsfield, who established the existing business model. Dr. John Weber purchased the hospital in 1996. In 2007, Dr. Weber envisioned and designed a new facility that would provide the highest standards of veterinary care in a modern updated facility. In 2012, Dr. Felix Pryor, an associate of fifteen years, and Patti Mosteller, office manager for thirty years, purchased the practice from Dr. Weber. Their goals were to continue the excellent veterinary care and maintain the integrity and devotion of the well-established veterinary hospital.

We're in Lake County ~ Mount Dora, FL at 3300 Highway 19A ~ 352-735-6047

Since 1956, Lake Veterinary Clinic has grown from a single practitioner to a total of four veterinarians, all well-versed in your pet’s health care needs. We see dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, rodents, reptiles, small birds and wildlife. Lake Veterinary Clinic is unique because we are a walk-in veterinary hospital, the only one in Lake County. Therefore your pet is guaranteed to be examined that day. We strive to be cost-conscious and do not have an examination fee. We feel the fee may be better applied towards diagnostics and treatment for your pet.

Our team is excellent! Our employees have been with us for between 3-30 years. This range of experience helps to provide the best care for your pet’s wellness. Our commitment and devotion is coupled with all members of our team constantly expanding our knowledge base through continuing education seminars for the veterinarians and staff. We strive to provide the most modern advances in medicine and surgery and often refer cases to specialists at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in Gainesville and Affiliated Veterinary Specialists in Maitland. Our commitment extends beyond the walls of the clinic. We maintain a consistent relationship with the local humane societies (Leesburg Humane Society, Cat Protection Society, Lake County Humane Society). We assist with diagnosing diseases and developing treatment protocols to aid them in providing wonderful pets that are later available for adoption. The veterinarians also offer their time and experience to local schools for career day or special presentations.

We love what we do at Lake Veterinary Clinic. The devotion and compassion have been consistent for over fifty years and we continue to strive to maintain that quality of care.

Lake Veterinary Clinic was awarded Lake Magazine’s Best of the Best 1st Place Veterinary in 2011. We also received the Macaroni Kid Family Choice Award for Best Veterinarian in 2013. Lake Veterinary Clinic is also an annual sponsor of the Georgefest Dog Jog.

We would appreciate the opportunity to get to know you and your furred (or scaled) family members. Please feel free to contact us for more information on our services and ways we can help strengthen your bond with your pet.

Lake Veterinary Clinic sincerely thanks the Lake County community for years of support and we look forward to continuing that tradition.
